Flexible Learning 5 & 6
Joining Koinonia this year is part of my continuous journey in education. I started my teaching career in a grade one class in 1990. I took a break from 1992 to 2001 and immersed myself in our home on a ranch with my husband, raising our daughter and son. I have been working within Chinook’s Edge School Division ever since, mostly focussing my time in grades 9-12.
I LOVE kids of all ages. They inspire me and keep me entertained. I learn more from them than they could ever learn from me.
My joy in life comes from my faith and family. I have 2 terrific grandsons that keep their ‘yaya’ playing hard. Our family loves almost all things outdoors; hiking, biking, camping, beaching, cross country skiing, and lately, pickleball. We are also pretty serious ‘foodies’. We are often gathered around the table with each other and friends.
The Bible verses that have been on my heart over this summer are found in 1 Peter 1:17-25:
…Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God;
For,
“All people are like grass,
And all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
The grass withers and the flowers fall,
But the word of the Lord endures forever.”
My prayer for my students this year is that in addition to covering the curriculum, they would be learning truth and loving each other well. I look forward to joining them in this endeavour as we spend the year together in Grades 5 and 6!
