I am so blessed to be teaching Kindergarten at OKCS! I grew up in this school from grades 7-12, graduating in 2017. I am from Manitoba in a town called Landmark, which is where most of my extended family still lives. God called my family to a youth camp called “Camp Cedarwood” when I was 7 years old. We lived at this camp just shy of 5 years before moving to Alberta so that my dad could work as a Calgary Firefighter and we have lived here ever since. I met my husband at this school and we got married in 2021. I graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education and started my career in 2022 in Kindergarten.

My interests are:

  • Curling: I have been curling for over 10 years and have gone to many provincials and nationals over the years. I will be curling on a women’s team during the fall/winter

  • Music: I love music and played piano for most of my childhood. I have always loved to sing and dance,  which my students will see everyday. I am now the worship director of my church and lead singer as well - which I love. I love acoustic Christian songs or any soft song.

  • Family: I love to hang out with my family and friends. Sitting on the deck with my parents, sisters and husband is one of my favourite things to do.

  • Cats: I have two cats named Steven and Rosie who are both Siamese. I said that I would never have cats but my husband convinced me. Now I have 2 cats that I am allergic to but love to pieces.

In kindergarten, we will be learning so many new things including how to be in school for the entire day and understand classroom routines. We will learn letter sounds so that we are able to create words. We will explore the basics of math and start to understand the environment and our community. Most importantly we will learn about our Father in heaven and understand the two greatest commandments. We will develop our understanding of loving our neighbour through learning and playing during school. I strive to have students see God in everything that we do during the day and develop a strong relationship with Him. I thank God everyday for the amazing environment that I get to work in with such great staff, parents and students.
