Katie Underwood

I am excited to teach Math and LA to our OKCS Flexible Learners in grades 1-4 this year! I have a passion for nurturing my students' love of literacy, as well as for supporting students and their families with home education, so I'm very much looking forward to the school year ahead.

I graduated from Nipissing University in Ontario with a BA in English Studies and a B.Ed. in Elementary Education. I've been teaching for 15 years, which has taken me to a wide variety of places: from a remote First Nations reserve to a Montessori school in downtown Toronto. I've also had the pleasure of teaching at several Christian schools, which has served to further ignite my passion for Christian Education. I believe that laying a solid foundation of Biblical truth for children, encouraging, and discipling them along the way is essential to their spiritual, emotional, social, and mental growth. The love of Christ and the Holy Spirit through the Word of God will equip our children for every challenge they may face in this world.
