I feel truly blessed to be beginning my first year as a teacher at OKCS as the Grade 7 homeroom- and a Flexible Learner teacher! Our family has been part of this amazing school community since 2005, when our oldest of seven children started kindergarten. For five years, I had the privilege of serving as an EA here, and it was during that time that I discovered my passion for teaching. Inspired by that calling, I returned to university, more than 20 years after completing my degree in Neuroscience, to pursue and complete my Bachelor of Education.
A great educator, Rita Pierson, once said, “Every child deserves a champion—an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists they become the best they can possibly be.” I believe this deeply. God has created each of our children in His image and blessed them with unique gifts. My prayer for this year is that He will use me boldly to teach, encourage, and guide them closer to Him in all that they do. It is my desire to be their champion.
Romans 8:28 - And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.
